Description

[edit | edit source]

This three-page reference sheet is a curated index of selected and crucial passages from the Gur Aryeh (the Torah commentary of Rabbi Yehudah Loew, the Maharal of Prague) covering the first three books of the Torah: Bereishit, Shemos, and Vayikra. Each page is organized by sefer and presents the relevant perek, pasuk, dibbur hamatchil (opening words), and Gur Aryeh location, allowing a learner to quickly locate the most important Maharal passages for each section of Chumash.

The sheet is designed as a companion to Rabbi Gershenfeld's Chumash curriculum and is intended to be used alongside the broader learning booklet. Together, these resources form the core source material for the structured study of Chumash with Rashi and Maharal as taught in the Machon Journey Vaad.

How to Use This Sheet

[edit | edit source]

This sheet is intended as a quick-reference guide. For each entry, the learner should:

  1. Locate the cited pasuk in the Chumash text.
  2. Read the corresponding Rashi on that pasuk.
  3. Open the Gur Aryeh to the cited location and study the Maharal's explanation of Rashi.
  4. Consult the Gershenfeld Booklet for Learning Chumash and Gur Aryeh for structural context and study questions related to that parsha.
