Noach: Opening the Gates of Wisdom — Preparing for Geulah/Source Sheets
These are the five handouts supplied with the recordings. The photographs preserve the complete printed pages and handwritten markings. The excerpts and English descriptions below are editorial aids, not a substitute for the originals.

Handout 1 — 5600 / 1840 and 5787
[edit | edit source]Open the original overview sheet.
The heading reads: “WHAT HAPPENED IN 5600 (1840)? WHAT IS HAPPENING IN 5787?” It collects Bereishis 7:11, Zohar Vayera 117a, an excerpt from Rav Chaim Friedlander’s introduction to Kol HaTor, a contrasting passage from Saarat Eliyahu attributed to Rav Eliyahu Weintraub, and Sanhedrin 96b.
The Zohar’s pivotal phrase is:
ובשית מאה שנין לשתיתאה יתפתחון תרעי דחכמתא לעילא ומבועי דחכמתא לתתא
Editorial translation: In the six-hundredth year of the sixth millennium, the gates of wisdom above and the fountains of wisdom below will open. The passage goes on to describe preparation for the seventh millennium by comparison with preparation for Shabbos. The matching passage is paragraph 445 in the online Zohar edition.
The Saarat Eliyahu excerpt gives a contrasting interpretation of the lower fountains:
והפירוש האמיתי ב׳מבועי דחכמתא לתתא׳ הוא התעוררות נפש האדם מלמטה (בחינת אתערותא דלתתא) להבין את עומק פנימיות התורה, ובירור המידות והחומר של האדם, כדי לעשות את הגוף כלי מוכן לקבלת האור העליון
Editorial translation: The true meaning of the fountains of wisdom below is the awakening of the human soul from below, to understand the depth of the inner Torah and to refine the person’s character and material life, making the body a prepared vessel to receive higher light. The preceding paragraph explicitly rejects identifying this wisdom with external or secular sciences.
The sheet’s short final English note on the 400 years from 5600 to 6000, תיקון מלכות, and the four letters of the Name is preserved in the photograph. The available recordings do not develop it into a full explanation. The reference to 5787 in the heading does not, by itself, establish a specific prediction or recording date.
Handout 2 — Leshem Shevo VeAchlamah, supplied page 76
[edit | edit source]Open the original Leshem page.
The underlined passage is in the lower portion of the right-hand column. Its important qualification reads:
לכל המשתוקקים לדבק באלהים חיים
Editorial translation: For all who yearn to cleave to the living God.
The paragraph explains “the gates will open” as permission for seekers to enter and engage in חכמת האמת. It reports the teaching in the name of Rav Yisrael Salanter. It is introduced in the middle recording and read in detail in the final recording. Read the complete surrounding paragraph in the photograph; the excerpt above preserves the key wording without attempting a full OCR transcription of the dense page.
Handout 3 — Kol HaTor, chapter 5, supplied page 116
[edit | edit source]Open the original Kol HaTor page 116.
Sections ב–ג connect the opening of wisdom with the seven wisdoms and with building Jerusalem, ingathering exiles, the flourishing of Eretz Yisrael, תיקון המידות, and uncovering Torah allusions. One of the listed elements is:
בנין ירושלים, קבוץ גליות, פריחת ארץ ישראל, תקון המדות, גלוי רמזי התורה ולימוד שבע החכמות
Editorial translation: Building Jerusalem, ingathering exiles, the flourishing of the Land of Israel, refinement of character, uncovering Torah allusions, and studying the seven wisdoms.
The printed biblical quotations include Devarim 26:19 and Devarim 4:6. The text relates the nations’ recognition of Torah wisdom to Israel’s life on its land.
Handout 4 — Kol HaTor, chapter 5, supplied page 118
[edit | edit source]Open the original Kol HaTor page 118 scan. Sections ה–ו continue the supplied Kol HaTor material between pages 116 and 123. Section ה presents the page’s account of concern for making Torah wisdom and its study manifest among כלל ישראל, and of the relation it draws between that concern, קידוש ה׳, and the recognition of Israel’s wisdom. These are ideas reported by the supplied text, not independently verified historical or theological conclusions. Section ו presents the text’s further account of wisdom as a foundational, higher light in creation, using the short phrase חכמת אלקים. It also refers to earlier sources and figures in support of that account. The original scan controls the wording, punctuation, footnotes, and any names or citations; this description does not claim a diplomatic full transcription.
Handout 5 — Kol HaTor, chapter 5, supplied page 123
[edit | edit source]Open the original Kol HaTor page 123.
The opening paragraph uses the image of a ladder standing on earth and reaching heaven. Sections יא–יב discuss the seven wisdoms, different scholarly abilities, and knowledge of nature. The instruction on choosing an area of study reads:
כל אחד יבחר באחת החכמות לפי כשרונו ונטייתו הטבעית והשכלית
Editorial translation: Each person should choose one of the wisdoms according to his ability and his natural and intellectual inclination.
The following section describes a reciprocal relationship between knowledge of the properties of nature and Torah wisdom. These Kol HaTor pages are supplied as continuation material: the speaker introduces their disagreement with the other approach but explicitly postpones a full discussion to a subsequent class.
Text and attribution notes
[edit | edit source]Kol HaTor is presented on the handout as the teaching of Rav Hillel of Shklov associated with the Gra. The overview sheet includes an endorsement by Rav Chaim Friedlander; the Sefaria book entry notes disagreement over aspects of the work’s attribution. Sefaria’s current edition contains chapters 1–3, so the exact chapter 5 passages here are linked to the supplied photographs rather than to a nonexistent online chapter.
The original photographs are the controlling source for wording, pagination, footnotes, and annotations. Short excerpts have been checked visually; no complete diplomatic transcription of the five pages is claimed.
